Michael Haydn

Austrian composer (Johann) Michael Haydn 1737-1806).
Joseph Haydn's younger brother. Like his brother, he joined the boy's choir of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, but unlike Joseph he remained in the service of the church for the rest of his career. Salzburg was Michael Haydn's home and place of work for 43 years, and it was there too that he died; this is why he is called the 'Salzburg Haydn'.
