French composer Clémence de Grandval (1828-1907) studied under Chopin, Flotow and Saint-Saëns. She was a prolific and, during her lifetime, a frequently performed composer. The Romantic magic of her works for oboe - at times evocative of Berlioz, Chopin and Liszt - is a discovery well worth making.
