Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka
Russian composer Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1804-1857).
Pioneer of Russian musical nationalism, who with his opera 'A life for the Tsar' in 1836 established himself as Russia's leading composer of his time. Later in his life he was influenced by French and Spanish music.
