Beamish, Sally
English composer Sally Beamish (born 1956) has gradually been building a reputation as a composer of great promise. 'Many readers will be familiar with her accomplishments as a violist and indeed it was the theft of her viola in 1989 that finally promted her decision to devote herself to composition. A move to Scotland and an Arts Council Composer's Bursary completed the circle and since then Beamish has steadily produced an impressive body of work both for the concert hall and for television and film ' (Gramophone).
